O’Connell wrestler places second in state private-school tourney

In the Virginia private-school state tournament held at the Potomac School in McLean, Bishop O’Connell Knights’ freshman Peyton Friedman finished second at 106 pounds.

Friedman had a 3-1 record with a pin and a technical fall in the high-school meet. He was pinned in the final.

Placing third for O’Connell were seniors Pete Bilaniuk at 150 and Sam Casolini Dal at 215.

Bilaniuk had a 5-1 record with four pins, and Casolini Dal was 4-1 with four pins.

Brennen Sweet was fourth for O’Connell at 157 and John Wills fifth at 126. Sixth were Jacob Snyder at 175 and Rowan Klanderman at 285.

Klanderman next participated in the National Preps Tournament at the 285 weight division, but did not place.
