NEW: Driver rescued from overturned vehicle after crash on Langston Blvd

A driver pinned after a crash caused their vehicle to flip has been extricated by firefighters.

The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. on Langston Blvd and N. Lexington Street, near Sloppy Mama’s BBQ. It’s unclear what caused the crash, which involved at least two vehicles, but it left one of the cars — a Subaru — on its roof and its driver reportedly pinned against the dashboard.

After a rescue operation, the driver was freed around 9 a.m., according to scanner traffic. They were taken to a local hospital and are expected to be okay. No other significant injuries were reported.

“One patient has been extricated from the vehicle and is being evaluated for non life threatening injuries,” the Arlington County Fire Department said on social media. “Road closures will continue as units pick up. Continue to avoid the area and use alternate routes.”

All lanes of Langston Blvd were blocked during the morning rush as a result of the emergency response. As of 10 a.m., eastbound lanes remain blocked as a tow crew worked to complete the clean up.
