Weekend road closures planned ahead of Arlington Palooza and 5K races

The annual Arlington Palooza and two 5K races will prompt some road closures this weekend.

Temporary closures are expected in Arlington Forest and Rock Spring to accommodate the Palooza and the Jamestown Fun Run and Walk 5K on Saturday. On Sunday, the Girls on the Run 5K will affect Pentagon City.

Saturday closures

Palooza-related road closures will last from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the Arlington County Police Department, and the following road will be affected:

N. Park Drive between 3rd Street N. and N. George Mason Drive

In Rock Spring, closures will be in effect from 7:30-11:30 a.m. for the Jamestown 5K, and the following road will be affected:

N. Delaware Street between N. Albermarle Street and 36th Street N.

ACPD encourages attendees at both events to use multimodal transportation, as parking will be limited.

Sunday closures

The Girls on the Run 5K is expected to begin at 8:30 a.m., leading to closures from approximately 8-10:30 a.m. The following roads will be affected:

  • S. Joyce Street, from 16th Street S. to Army Navy Drive
  • Army Navy Drive, from S. Joyce Street to 23rd Street S.

Community members should expect to see an increased police presence in these areas, and motorists are urged to follow law enforcement direction, be mindful of closures, and remain alert for increased pedestrian traffic. Additional closures not mentioned above may be implemented at police discretion in the interest of public safety.

Motorists should be on the lookout for temporary “No Parking” signs and illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed or towed. If your vehicle is towed, please use the online portal to find out the status of your vehicle and where it is located. The online portal is updated in real time.
