The annual Columbia Pike Blues Festival is returning in two weeks for an afternoon of festivities for all ages.
The D.C. area’s largest blues festival is coming back for its 28th year on Saturday, June 14, stretching from S. Walter Reed Drive to 9th Street S. on the Pike. As always, it’s free.
The event will feature local artists
- Musical acts begin at 1 p.m. with longtime Arlington resident Rick Franklin, who performs Piedmont blues — a genre characterized by quick finger picks on the guitar.
- Other performers include Sol Roots Band, Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark and Little Red & the Renegades.
- D.C. funk, soul, jazz and afrobeats band Everyday Everybody will end the day with a performance at 6:30 p.m.
It has family-friendly activities
- Kids can enjoy moon bounces and face painting, while food, vendors and artisans will line the streets.
- Andrew Schneider, executive director of the Columbia Pike Partnership, said the event will spotlight Arlington’s “great mix of everything” and variety of “restaurants, housing and folks.”
- People interested in volunteering can visit the Columbia Pike Partnership’s website.
Attendees are encouraged to park at parking garages or use car-free transit options.
