SWAT team training planned this weekend at abandoned Key Bridge Marriott

A police SWAT team training will be taking place this weekend at an abandoned hotel in Rosslyn.

Before crews finish demolishing the former Key Bridge Marriott at 1401 Langston Blvd, the Arlington County Police Department plans to conduct training there from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.

All operations will be happening indoors, but people should expect to see more public safety vehicles and law enforcement officers in the area.

“Those traveling near the vicinity of the property may hear noise originating from the building but are reminded that this is a training exercise only,” an ACPD advisory says.

The complete advisory is below.

The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team will conduct planned training at the property at 1401 Langston Boulevard on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

All training activities will be confined to the interior of the building. Community members can expect to see an increase in public safety vehicles and law enforcement officers in the area. Those traveling near the vicinity of the property may hear noise originating from the building but are reminded that this is a training exercise only.

Realistic training is critical to enhancing ACPD’s capabilities and ensuring our officers remain operationally ready to respond to any public safety incident that may occur in Arlington County or the region.

This is a closed training exercise.
