A 42-year-old Arlington man is facing a number of charges, including DUI, after a crash that shut down a busy on-ramp Friday afternoon.
It started around 4:45 p.m., police say, when a driver veered off the road and struck another car at the Route 50 and Washington Blvd interchange. That driver then allegedly tried to climb a fence before returning to his car.
When police arrived, he was uncooperative and spat on an officer, according to police.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-05300212, Arlington Boulevard at Washington Boulevard. At approximately 4:47 p.m. on May 30, police were dispatched to the report of a crash. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect was allegedly driving his vehicle eastbound on Arlington Boulevard when he veered off the road and struck the victim vehicle entering the roadway from Washington Boulevard, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway. The occupants of the struck vehicle did not report any injuries. The suspect then exited his vehicle and attempted to climb a fence before reentering his vehicle. Responding officers located the suspect inside his vehicle and issued commands. He was initially noncompliant and was subsequently taken into custody. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle prior to towing, an open alcohol bottle was recovered and while he was in custody, he spat on an officer twice. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect did not possess a valid driver’s license and he refused a breath test. [The suspect], 42, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault on Police (x2), Driving Under the Influence, Hit and Run, Breath Test Refusal, Driving with an Open Container and Driving with a Suspended License.
Also over the weekend, a man is alleged to have exposed himself to two women and two children in a pair of separate incidents, in the Clarendon area and near Lacey Woods Park. He’s also accused of groping the woman who was walking with the two children near the park.
Both incidents happened Saturday afternoon. From ACPD:
INDECENT EXPOSURE/SEXUAL BATTERY, 2025-05310131/2025-05310160, Clarendon Boulevard at Washington Boulevard/N. George Mason Drive at Washington Boulevard. At approximately 2:40 p.m. on May 31, police were dispatched to the report of an exposure. Upon arrival, it was determined the female Victim One was walking in the area of Clarendon Boulevard and Washington Boulevard when she observed the male suspect allegedly expose himself before fleeing the scene. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. At approximately 4:46 p.m., police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. It was determined female Victim Two was walking in the area of N. George Mason Drive and Washington Boulevard with two children when they observed the male suspect expose himself before touching Victim Two inappropriately and fleeing the scene. Responding officers canvassed the area and located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of 18th Street N. and Washington Boulevard and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect matched the description of the suspect from the prior incident and was charged for both incidents. [The suspect], 37, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Sexual Battery and Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Also in the crime report, a man was arrested late Friday night with a large amount of marijuana plainly visible in his car, an 18-year-old woman allegedly struck an officer after a fight Sunday afternoon, and a man reportedly brandished a BB gun after a road rage incident early Monday morning.
NARCOTICS VIOLATION (Significant), 2025-05300297, 4th Street N. at N. Upton Street. At approximately 11:50 p.m. on May 30, an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area displaying an improper license plate and conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the suspect provided the officer with an invalid vehicle registration and the officer observed distribution amounts of marijuana in plain sight inside the vehicle. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle prior to towing, a distribution amount of suspected narcotics were also recovered. [The suspect], 23, of Springfield, Va. was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance and Improper Registration. He was held without bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-06010143, 4300 block of King Street. At approximately 4:54 p.m. on June 1, an officer observed a large group of individuals fighting outside of a business. The officer approached the group and issued commands during which the female suspect struck the officer. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and the officer did not report any injuries. A warrant was obtained for [The suspect], 18, of Alexandria, Va. for Assault on Police. The Alexandria Police Department assumed custody of the suspect and was the primary investigating agency for the incident.
BRANDISHING, 2025-06020015, 700 block of N. George Mason Drive. At approximately 1:12 a.m. on June 2, police were dispatched to the report of an aggressive driver. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect and male victim were inside their vehicles when they became involved in a dispute during which the suspect allegedly reversed into the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then exited his vehicle and brandished what appeared to be a firearm before subsequently fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. Responding officers canvassed the area and located the suspect in the area of 2nd Road N. and N. George Mason Drive and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, a BB gun was recovered. [The suspect], 30, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Brandishing and Hit and Run.
