Arlington youth soccer team earns berth to play in Presidents Cup

The Arlington Soccer Association‘s boys 2008 White team earned a berth to play in the Eastern Regional Presidents Cup this month for the fourth year in a row.

The competition will be held in Valley Forge, Pa. A victory in the event will earn the squad a berth to play in the National Presidents Cup, held next month in Tampa.

The under-17 Arlington team earned a berth in the Eastern Regionals by winning the Virginia Presidents Cup tournament. Izac Meredith was named Most Valuable Player of the competition, with Trevor Fullen chosen the Best Defensive Player.

Fullen, Quinn Leonard, Rhys Morgan and Emirhan Pehlivan earned spots on the tournament’s Best 11. Goalie Bek Celep stopped two penalty kicks in the title game.

Additional members of the team include Chandler Brown, Charles Garno, Cooper Thomson, Jackson Mello, Marin Hecht, Mateo Ruiz, Nash Hardy, Raul Fuentes, Ryan Wheeler, Sam Baird, Steve Rodriguez and William Chen.

The team is coached by Vahid Talebloo.
