NOW: Firefighters battling house fire in North Arlington

Firefighters are still on scene of a house fire that broke out around 6:15 p.m., amid a storm.

A neighbor called to report that fire was coming from the roof of a house on the 2300 block of N. Albemarle Street, in the Old Dominion neighborhood near N. Glebe Road. No one was believed to be home at the time, according to scanner traffic.

Firefighters arrived and found fire and smoke coming from the roof and the basement of the small house. With lightning and thunder still crashing, they worked to control the blaze. As of 7 p.m., the firefighting effort was still underway.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is unclear, but 10 minutes before the initial dispatch firefighters were checking out another home in a northern Arlington neighborhood that was struck by lightning.
