State police looking for Porsche driver who fled crash that injured trooper

Virginia State Police are looking for the driver of a Porsche bearing Montana tags, after a crash that injured a trooper.

The crash happened early this morning, shortly after midnight, on southbound I-395 near Pentagon City. Video (below) showing the Porsche crossing multiple lanes and colliding with the VSP cruiser was posted to social media by local public safety watcher Dave Statter.

Statter’s video also shows the apparent driver fleeing the scene on foot. They were not found despite a search of the area with a K-9 unit and a police helicopter.

The trooper was taken to a local hospital with injuries reported to be “minor.”

More, below, from a VSP spokesperson.

At approximately 12:34 a.m. this morning, a Virginia State Trooper was travelling southbound on Interstate 395 near Exit 8B when a 2020 Porsche Carrera 911 with Montana registration moved into the right lane, striking the trooper’s vehicle.

The Porsche then pulled onto the right shoulder, and the driver fled on foot. An aviation and canine search were unsuccessful.  Fairfax County Police and the Pentagon Force Protection Agency aided in the search.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was later taken to a hospital to be checked out.

The incident remains under investigation.
