Police investigating armed robbery in Arlington park

A gun-wielding suspect robbed someone of cash in Upton Hill Regional Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to the 6000 block of Wilson Blvd around 1:15 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. The victim told officers that he was walking in the park — near Arlington’s western border — when a man in a mask and all black clothing approached.

“Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was outside when the male suspect approached him, demanded cash and displayed what appeared to be a firearm,” Arlington County police said in a crime report. “The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported.”

“Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results,” ACPD said. “The investigation is ongoing.”
