ACPD: Attempted motorcycle carjacking in Halls Hill leads to arrest

An Arlington man is behind bars after police say he tried to carjack a motorcycle while armed with an airsoft gun.

The alleged incident happened this past Thursday afternoon in the Halls Hill neighborhood. No one was hurt and police say they arrested the suspect in a nearby home.

ATTEMPTED CARJACKING, 2025-08210117, N. Culpeper Street at 19th Street N. At approximately 1:21 p.m. on August 21, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim observed the male suspect attempting to steal his motorcycle and confronted him during which the suspect displayed what appeared to be a firearm before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect inside a nearby residence and subsequently took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, suspected narcotics and an airsoft gun were recovered. The suspect was also determined to be a convicted felon. [The suspect], 36, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Attempted Carjacking, Use of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He was held without bond.
