Last month was the driest August on record in D.C., which received just 0.2 inches of rain compared to an average of 3.25, according to The Washington Post.
This is the first time this summer that an Arlington burn ban has gone into effect, ACFD spokesperson Capt. Jamie Jill told ARLnow.
“[It is] just out of an abundance of caution due to the dry weather,” he said.
