UPDATED: Man stabbed, seriously injured in Virginia Square shop

A man was stabbed multiple times and seriously injured Thursday night in Virginia Square.

The stabbing happened around 7 p.m. inside the Tobacco Hut store at 3528 Wilson Blvd, according to scanner traffic. It prompted a large police response that briefly closed eastbound Wilson Blvd.

The suspect fled the scene after the stabbing. Officers searched the area, including the Virginia Square Metro station, but were unable to locate him.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital via ambulance.

In a crime report released Friday morning, Arlington County police said the stabbing was the result of a physical altercation during a robbery. The suspect remains at large.

AGGRAVATED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2025-09110181, 3500 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 6:58 p.m. on September 11, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, went behind the counter and began collecting merchandise when an employee confronted him. A physical altercation ensued during which the suspect displayed a knife and struck the employee with it, resulting in several lacerations. The suspect then exited the store and fled the scene on foot. Responding officers located the employee on scene and provided medical assistance before medics arrived and transported him to an area hospital with serious injuries. A canvass of the area was conducted for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male with long dreadlocks, approximately 6’0”-6’3”, wearing a black hoodie, gray pants and white and black shoes. The investigation is ongoing.
