ACPD: Cocaine, ‘large sum of cash’ recovered in South Arlington drug arrest

The Arlington County Police Department says officers recovered cocaine, prescription pills and thousands of dollars in cash last week after a traffic stop in Douglas Park.

A 57-year-old suspect was pulled over on the 1400 block of S. Glebe Road after police observed a traffic violation just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, ACPD said.

Officers searched the vehicle after spotting an open container inside, leading them to recover “a distribution amount of cocaine and prescription pills, packaging material and cash” from the vehicle, according to a preliminary report.

Law enforcement proceeded to execute a search warrant at the man’s Arlington residence, where they found “a large sum of cash, cocaine, packaging material and a scale.”

“This incident highlights the proactive & coordinated efforts of ACPD’s Community Action Team & Narcotics Detectives in addressing drug-related crime. Their dedication and swift action led to a significant arrest, resulting in the removal of dangerous narcotics from our streets,” the police department said on social media.

“This not only disrupts the distribution of harmful substances but also reinforces the ongoing commitment to public safety, helping to create a safer and healthier environment for all members of the community.”

The suspect, who is currently being held at the Arlington County Detention Facility, is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 10. He could face decades in prison if convicted on all charges.
