Only one lane of the inbound 14th Street Bridge was getting by a late morning crash on the Virginia side of the span.
At least two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one overturned. Arlington police — plus firefighters and medics from D.C. — were on scene, directing traffic and checking on injuries.
Drivers on northbound I-395 faced backups around Pentagon City.
All lanes reopened shortly before 1 p.m.
Traffic camera video later published on social media by local public safety watcher Dave Statter shows one of vehicles colliding with another while attempting to cross multiple lanes to reach an exit. The second vehicle, which was in the left-hand lane, flips and comes to rest on the right side of the bridge.
Watch this one: Vehicle turns over after being hit by another driver determined to make an exit they already missed. About 11:30 a.m. on I-395N at the infamous and dangerous Exit 10C. Driver stopped in the middle of the interstate and made a left turn. Just brilliant!! Injuries… pic.twitter.com/OPIcgKqOsO
