A 60-year-old Alexandria man is behind bars after an Arlington jewelry store was robbed late Monday afternoon.
The robbery happened around 4:15 p.m. at a small jewelry store on the 2700 block of Washington Blvd in the Lyon Park neighborhood, south of Clarendon.
Police say a man grabbed merchandise out of an employee’s hand, then implied that he had a gun when confronted by another employee.
Arriving officers searched for the suspect, who fled the scene on foot, but he was not found nearby, according to Arlington County police. He was later located in Fairfax County and taken into custody, police said.

ROBBERY, 2025-11240163, 2700 Washington Boulevard. At approximately 4:21 p.m. on November 24, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and inquired about merchandise. As an employee was showing the suspect the items, he allegedly grabbed the merchandise from the employee’s hands and subsequently exited the store without payment. When confronted by another employee outside of the business, the suspect implied a weapon before fleeing the scene on foot with the stolen merchandise. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. Later that evening, the suspect was taken into custody in Fairfax County and was subsequently transported to Arlington County. [The suspect], 60, of Alexandria, Va., was arrested, and charged with Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He was held without bond.
