Thanksgiving brings closures across Arlington on Thursday and Friday

The Thanksgiving holiday will bring closures to some Arlington County offices and services on Thursday and Friday.

All public libraries in Arlington will be closed on both days, as will almost all community centers and administrative offices at the parks department. The Long Bridge Aquatics and Fitness Center will be open from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, however.

Parking meters won’t be enforced on either day.

Cultural Affairs buildings are closed both days, and so is the Treasurer’s Office. Courts and judicial services, including fingerprinting services, will also be closed, as will the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Waste collection will be bumped back a day, with Thursday collection routes shifting to Friday and Friday routes shifting to Saturday.

No special collections or leaf collection will happen on Thursday, either. Additionally, the Earth Products Yard and the Household Hazardous Materials/Electronics Collection Recycling Center are both closed until Dec. 1.

Buses will operate on a holiday schedule on Thanksgiving Day. Meanwhile, Arlington Public Schools students get a five-day break beginning tomorrow (Wednesday).
