Trash collection pushed back, APS on two-week break for the holidays

Trash collection will be pushed back a day on Thursday while various Arlington County facilities shut down for Christmas.

No waste will be picked up on Christmas Day, so Thursday routes will be serviced on Friday, and Friday routes will move to Saturday.

Meanwhile, Arlington Public Schools students started their winter break today (Monday), and they won’t be back to school until Monday, Jan. 5.

All Arlington Public Library locations will also be closed starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday for Christmas Eve, and they will remain closed through Kwanzaa on Friday.

All but one Arlington community center will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The Long Bridge Aquatics and Fitness Center will be open from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday.

Arlington Transit buses will operate on holiday schedules on Christmas Day, while Metro will operate on its weekend late-night schedule.

Parking meters won’t be enforced on Thursday or Friday.
