Christmas tree pickup begins next week in Arlington

Arlington County will begin its yearly post-holiday collection of Christmas trees starting next week.

A special pickup of the expired evergreens will begin next Monday, Jan. 5 and continue through Friday, Jan. 16.

Residents are advised to place trees at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on their regular trash collection day. Since the greenery will be ground into mulch, trees can’t be put in plastic bags and they should be stripped of all decorations, nails and stands.

Get naked with that tree at the curb. No stands, lights, tinsel, ornaments nor plastic bags. Buck naked. Special collection begins Monday, Jan. 5. www.arlingtonva.us/Government/P…

After Jan. 16, residents will have to schedule a brush collection to dispose of trees over 8 feet tall.

People without curbside pickup — including those in apartments, condos and townhomes — can drop off their trees at the Earth Products Yard at 4300 29th Street S. in Shirlington.
