ACPD: Drunk driver assaults officer after Ballston crash

A 34-year-old D.C. woman is facing several charges after allegedly driving drunk, rear ending another driver, and assaulting a police officer.

The incident started around 8:15 p.m. Sunday with a crash in Ballston and ended in an arrest on N. George Mason Drive near Virginia Hospital Center.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2026-01110169, Wilson Boulevard at N. Glebe Road. At approximately 8:23 p.m. on January 11, police were dispatched to the late report of a hit and run. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was in their vehicle at a red light, when the suspect vehicle allegedly struck the victim from behind and subsequently fled the scene. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located the suspect inside the suspect vehicle in the 1900 block of N. George Mason Drive and conducted a traffic stop. Officers issued commands to which the suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle, ignored. As police officers took the suspect into custody, the suspect was combative and struck an officer. The officer nor the driver of the struck vehicle sustained any injuries. The victim of the struck vehicle was provided information about the process of obtaining warrants from the Office of the Magistrate. [The suspect], 34, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement, Driving Under the Influence and Refusal of Breath/Blood Test.

Also in the cime report: police are looking for a man who threw two rocksthrough a woman’s windows in the Green Valley neighborhood.

MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 2026-01100031, 2400 block of S. Lincoln Street. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on January 10, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she heard a loud noise and observed two broken windows and a rock on the floor. The victim did not report any injuries. Responding officers recovered evidence that two rocks were thrown at the victim’s windows. The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect threw rocks at the victim’s windows and subsequently fled the scene in a vehicle. The suspect is described as a White male, with curly, long black hair and a beard, approximately 5’10”-6’2” tall, approximately 200 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
