Police: Woman poured gasoline in office of Green Valley apartment building

A 38-year-old Arlington woman has been charged with attempted arson after allegedly pouring gasoline in the office of an apartment building.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 3200 block of 24th Street S. in the Green Valley neighborhood. That corresponds with The Shelton, an apartment building with a years-long history of resident complaints about safety and living conditions.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (Significant), 2026-01140193, 3200 block of 24th Street S. At approximately 10:41 p.m. on January 14, police were dispatched to the report of destruction of property. The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect approached a closed office inside a residential building, allegedly poured gasoline and struck the door, resulting in damage. Responding officers located the suspect on scene and took her into custody. [The suspect], 38, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged Destruction of Property (x2) and Attempted Arson.

Also in the crime report, a man allegedly exposed himself to a woman Thursday evening along the 2900 block of Military Road, in the area of Zachary Taylor and Donaldson Run parks, before fleeing on a scooter.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2026-01150180, 2900 block of Military Road. At approximately 5:43 p.m. on January 15, police were dispatched to the report of an exposure. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was walking in the area when the male suspect approached her and exposed himself before fleeing the scene on a scooter. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’5”-5’9”, approximately 30 years old and 130-160 pounds, wearing a black beanie, black puffer jacket and dark jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
