ACPD: Robber uses stolen power tool and pepper spray to threaten victim

Police are looking for a suspect in an unusual robbery in the Ft. Myer Heights neighborhood, near Rosslyn.

It happened just before 7 a.m. Monday on the 1500 block of N. Queen Street. According to Arlington County police, the victim was walking to his car when he found a man inside his other vehicle.

When confronted, the suspect allegedly “brandished a power tool from the victim’s vehicle and a struggle ensued.” After the victim got the tool back, the suspect “displayed pepper spray before fleeing the scene on foot.”

ROBBERY, 2026-03160031, 1500 block of N. Queen Street. At approximately 6:55 a.m. on March 16, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking towards his vehicles when he discovered items in his vehicle in disarray and an unknown male suspect inside his other vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect, who then brandished a power tool from the victim’s vehicle and a struggle ensued. The victim regained control of the power tool as the suspect began to flee the scene. The suspect then displayed pepper spray before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as Black male, approximately 5’3” tall, wearing dark clothing and a black jacket. The investigation is ongoing.

Also in the crime report, a man broke into a store on the 5100 block of Langston Blvd and stole merchandise. And someone threw a rock through a woman’s window in the Courthouse area.

BURGLARY, 2026-03170006, 5100 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 12:44 a.m. on March 17, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary alarm. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect forced entry to the business by breaking a glass door. The suspect concealed merchandise in a bag and subsequently fled the scene on foot. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a White male with blonde hair, wearing all black clothing and a face covering. The investigation is ongoing.

MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 2026-03130188, 1700 block of N. Troy Street. At approximately 7:50 p.m. on March 13, police were dispatched to the report of destruction of property.  Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she heard a loud noise and observed a broken window and a rock on the floor. The victim did not report any injuries. Responding officers recovered evidence that a rock was thrown at the victim’s window. The preliminary investigation indicates a group of juvenile male suspects threw rocks at the victim’s window and subsequently fled the scene on foot. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
