National Landing’s cherry blossom event series ‘Pink in the Park’ returns Saturday

National Landing is gearing up for another round of free cherry blossom-inspired events this spring.

Pink in the Park, the annual event series produced by the National Landing Business Improvement District in collaboration with Amazon and the National Cherry Blossom Festival, returns for its fourth year with programming running from March 21 through April 10.

Here’s the lineup:

  • Pink in the Pool — Saturday, March 21, 9 a.m. to noon, Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center (333 Long Bridge Drive)
  • Pink Beats — Thursdays, March 26, April 2 and April 9, 5 to 8 p.m., Water Park (1601 Crystal Drive)
  • Art of Pink — Friday, April 10, 5 to 10 p.m., Metropolitan Park (510 14th Street S.)

Pink in the Pool is a free family swim party with open swim in the leisure pool, origami-making with Study Japanese in Arlington, paper lantern decorating with the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, and Japanese snacks. Space is limited and advance registration through Eventbrite is required.

Pink Beats is an outdoor happy hour series with live DJ sets and a new addition this year: cherry blossom-clad dancers and flower giveaways from the performance group Hoop Fairy. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Water Park vendors including Monstera Burrito, Spot of Tea, Queen Mother’s Kitchen and Fat Fish.

Art of Pink is an after-hours showcase featuring cherry blossom-inspired artwork from more than 50 local artists, a live mural competition from Secret Walls, Japanese and pan-Asian food from vendors including Fat Fish and Bar Chinois, and live music from DJ Joyce Lim. Amazon’s HQ2 lobbies and the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington’s Innovation Studio will also be open as exhibition space. ARLnow previewed last year’s Art of Pink, which was also held at Metropolitan Park.

“We’re excited for another year of celebrating cherry blossom season here in National Landing,” Tracy Sayegh Gabriel, president and CEO of the National Landing BID, said in a press release. “As the area continues to evolve, Pink in the Park brings people together through art, music and community, reflecting the unique spirit of National Landing and the DC region.”

All events are free. RSVPs are encouraged and more details are available at nationallanding.org/pink.

Pink in the Park is part of the broader National Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs March 20 through April 12 with events across the D.C. region including the Blossom Kite Festival (March 28), Petalpalooza at Capitol Riverfront (April 4) and the Festival Parade along Constitution Avenue (April 11).
