Big ‘No Kings’ protests planned along Glebe Road and I-66 overpasses this weekend

Another wave of “No Kings” protests will be taking place along several high-visibility areas in Arlington on Saturday.

They’re part of over 3,000 similar events happening around the country on the same day, protesting the Trump administration and its tactics. Culminating in a large afternoon protest along an eight-mile stretch of Glebe Road, the actions will follow similar demonstrations last June and October.

We of Action Virginia will kick off the day at 8 a.m. on 19 overpasses spanning I-66 and Route 50 in Arlington. The “bridge brigade” will focus on the “No Kings” message as well as immigration enforcement and the war in Iran.

“The idea is to give citizens an opportunity to meet together in their community and express their concerns, their fears, their disagreements with this current administration,” organizer Julie Hanson Swanson told ARLnow.

At 10 a.m., another protest will rally at the roundabout on the Arlington side of Memorial Bridge. This action — hosted by local chapters of Third Act, a nationwide group that mobilizes seniors — will march into D.C., progressing around the Lincoln Memorial and past the Reflecting Pool.

“We want our Constitution back; we want a healthy planet; we want our communities to be safe; and we want those in power to honor their oaths,” Third Act Virginia organizer Susan Douglas said in a press release. “No ICE, no war, no kings.”

Finally, We of Action is attempting to mobilize neighbors from 1-3 p.m. on a lengthy stretch of Glebe Road that runs almost the entire length of the county. The “Hands Across Arlington” route begins in Potomac Yard and continues all the way up to Walker Chapel United Methodist Church in the Old Glebe neighborhood.

Swanson said the goal is to enable residents to simply step outside of their homes to protest on the sidewalk.

“It is to create a greater community, and then, hopefully now get people engaged in this type of protest and signs of resistance and non-cooperation,” she said.

We of Action’s last “Hands Across Arlington” event took place ahead of the military parade on June 14, 2025. It focused on Langston Blvd from Rosslyn to Falls Church and attracted an estimated 5,000 people.
