No injuries were reported this afternoon (Monday) after a vehicle drove straight through a residence in the Buckingham neighborhood.
The Arlington County Fire Department responded to the 400 block of N. George Mason Drive just before 12:30 p.m. after a vehicle accelerated through at least one wall, coming to a rest with its front end in an exterior garden.
“Driver’s out, he’s okay,” one first responder said over the scanner. “He pulled in[to] his garage and floored it instead of reversing.”
In a photo shared on ACFD’s social media, the front of the vehicle can be seen poking out of the residence. A broken window, pieces of lumber and other building materials came to rest on the vehicle’s hood and windshield.

“It looks like it went through their garage and completely through the house, through the brick on George Mason [Drive],” the first responder said.
All occupants had been evacuated from the building by 12:35 p.m. No injuries were reported.
A building inspector had been dispatched to the site to evaluate the condition of the structure and was on scene by 2 p.m., according to scanner traffic.
The vehicle had been removed by 3 p.m., but fire crews were still present at the scene. A notice in the window declared the building unsafe.
An ACFD spokesperson declined to provide comment beyond what the agency posted on social media.
