A new season of free events at George Mason University is coming to Virginia Square starting next week.
This year’s lineup of weekly programming — featuring trivia nights, K-pop dance sessions, ping pong, knitting and more — kicks off Monday, June 8 and will last through Aug. 8.
Events will take place at the Plaza at Mason Square (3383 Fairfax Drive), in addition to The Haven at Fuse, a venue located on the second floor of the Fuse building at 3401 Fairfax Drive.
“All activities are free and open to the public,” GMU wrote in a press release. “Come and be a part of all that Mason Square has to offer!”
Mondays
- Knit Kindness: Learn the basics of knitting or work on individual projects with a group. Supplies provided. 12:30-1:30 p.m., The Haven
- Lawn Games Social: Play cornhole, lawn Tetris, giant Connect Four and chess. 3-4:30 p.m., The Plaza
- K-Pop with WJ Dance Studio: Learn beginner-friendly choreography set to K-pop music. 6-7 p.m., The Plaza
Tuesdays
- Breath, Meditation & Movement: This session of guided breath work, meditation and moves “is designed to reset your mind, relax your body, and recharge your energy.” Noon to 1 p.m., The Haven
- Mason Square Makers: Make a variety of crafts, with a different project each week. 3-4:30 p.m., The Plaza
- Trivia Tuesday: Compete by answering general and themed trivia questions. 8:30-9:30 p.m., The Plaza
Wednesdays
- Storytime: “Storytime encourages participants to discover the joy of storytelling with a Mason guest reader.” All ages are welcome. 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., The Haven
- Chess Social: Seasoned and casual players alike are welcome to play and connect with fellow enthusiasts. 3-4:30 p.m., The Plaza
- Outdoor Yoga with Mind the Mat: This yoga session “incorporates energetic movement through a series of yoga postures, by which the participant experiences a sense of fluid physical motion.” 6-7 p.m., The Plaza
Thursdays
- Yoga & Flow with Spenga: This class is intended to “help you recenter as you wind down your week.” All levels are welcome. Noon to 1 p.m., The Haven
- Ping Pong Power Hour: Play outdoor singles or doubles ping pong with fellow participants. 3-4:30 p.m., The Plaza.
- Pilates with Mind the Mat: This class “incorporates a mix of the hottest moves and hottest music through guided movements.” 6-7 p.m., The Plaza
Fridays
- Video Game Social: This weekly meetup features “your favorite Nintendo hits.” 12:30-1:30 p.m., The Haven
- Coloring Page Friday: Unwind with outdoor coloring for artists of all ages and skill levels. 3-4:30 p.m., The Plaza.
- Zumba Power Hour: This cardio class “combines high energy and motivating Latin music” to inspire a dance floor-like atmosphere. 5:30-6:30 p.m., The Plaza
Saturdays
- Saturday Sound Bath: “Let soothing tones from crystal bowls and gentle instruments guide you into deep calm and balance — no experience needed.” Noon to 1 p.m., The Haven
- Bubbles & Amenities Party: Amenities include a book cart, rocking chairs and giant lawn games, along with a “bubble party.” 5:30-6:30 p.m., The Plaza
- Saturday Shuffle Event Rotation: Attend a rotation of live concerts, outdoor movies and a video game tournament. Times vary; this event takes place at The Plaza.

Multiple dates
Watch Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” on Friday, June 5. Pre-movie friendship bracelet crafts begin at 7 p.m., with the movie starting around 8 p.m. Free popcorn will be available while supplies last.
Other movies in the summer series include “National Treasure” (June 27), “Jurassic Park” (July 25), and “My Cousin Vinny” sometime in August.
Jubilee: A Juneteenth Celebration
Saturday, June 20, 1-3 p.m.
Celebrate Juneteenth with music and ice cream at The Plaza. The event will feature the line dance crew the DMV City Slickerz and DJ Meech.
