Around 11 p.m., Prince George’s County Police observed a vehicle on St. Barnabas Road involved in an armed carjacking in Arlington County earlier that afternoon. U.S. Park Police were called to assist and attempted a traffic stop near Suitland Parkway and Silver Hill Road. The original carjacking took place in a residential neighborhood. The victim was sitting in her parked vehicle when the suspect pulled up in a pickup truck and approached her from the driver’s side window, the Arlington County Police Department said in a preliminary incident report.
“The suspect brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s vehicle,” police wrote. “The victim exited and the suspect stole her vehicle and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.”
A witness told ARLnow that the victim was a dog walker who had just returned a dog to a nearby house.
Shortly after the incident, a black pickup truck with Maryland tags could be seen parked in the middle of the street near the crime scene. It was later determined to be stolen out of Prince George’s County, an ACPD spokesperson said.
