North Arlington neighborhoods lose power after tree falls across lines

Several northern Arlington neighborhoods lost power late Wednesday morning after a tree fell.

The tree fell across power and other utility lines shortly before 11 a.m., on Little Falls Road near the intersection with N. George Mason Drive, according to scanner traffic.

Initially, more than 1,000 homes in surrounding neighborhoods including Yorktown, Rock Spring and Williamsburg were affected by the subsequent outage. As of noon, that number was down to 365, according to Dominion’s outage map.

There were no reports of injuries from the falling tree.

This incident follows another large tree falling along Wilson Blvd two days ago, knocking out power, during a storm.
