A Northern Virginia congressional candidate who has faced strong criticism from Jewish leaders recently retweeted an antisemitic rant depicting Adolf Hitler.
Shelly Arnoldi, the Libertarian candidate in Congressional District 8, which includes Arlington, reposted a video last week that begins with Hitler shouting about “Jewish globalization” and alleges a plan to “exterminate the European race.”
On Tuesday, Arnoldi retweeted another video defending Nazi book burnings. The posts are among many in a similar vein on Arnoldi’s X feed, which has about 8,000 followers.
Months of her related posts earlier this year, first reported by Jewish Insider in February, prompted heavy criticism from Jewish community activists and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington.
“[Arnoldi] has repeatedly spread all manner of outrageous antisemitic tropes — suggesting Jews control the world; telling Jewish people to move to Israel; arguing that Jews are plotting to weaken our government; and insinuating that Israel ‘owns’ America,” the Jewish Community Relations Council wrote during Arnoldi’s unsuccessful bid to chair the Fairfax County Republican Committee.
“They have no place whatsoever in America’s political discourse,” the council continued. “Jews have encountered these types of baseless and reprehensible charges for thousands of years, but we do not have the luxury of ignoring or becoming numb to them.”
Jewish Insider reported on social media posts in which, according to the outlet, Arnoldi “spread conspiracy theories about Jewish control of U.S. politics and expressed admiration for prominent neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers, among other extremist comments.”

Arnoldi rejected allegations of antisemitism in a statement this week to ARLnow.
“I’m an American patriot concerned about our national debt and the future of our country,” she wrote. “I have taken the oath to support and defend the US Constitution twice. Accusing people of racism is a way to violate the 1st Amendment and deflect away from my platform.”
Arnoldi added that she wants attention focused on her “top priorities” rather than any “inflammatory nonsense on my social media.” She is running against U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D) on a platform she says is focused on supporting civil liberties and cutting government waste.
The Libertarian Party of Northern Virginia, which has promoted Arnoldi’s campaign, did not respond to a request for comment.
The pinned post on Arnoldi’s X feed is a statement about her losing the race for Fairfax GOP Chair, which she blames on “character attacks” and “a well coordinated effort to silence and distort the truth in our local politics.”

A social media campaign to block her election accused her of “antisemitic rhetoric, conspiracy theories about Jewish control of government and media, and repeated statements telling Jewish Americans to ‘go to Israel.'”
