In case you thought reports of scary clowns roaming around Arlington were a pre-Halloween thing, think again: another such incident was reported yesterday.
The Election Day clown sighting was reported around 5 p.m. in the Nauck neighborhood. Initially, police dispatchers were told that the clown had a gun.
From an Arlington County Police crime report:
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES, 2016-11080208, 2100 block of S. Nelson Street. At approximately 5:02 p.m. on November 8, police responded to the report of a suspicious person. The juvenile female reported seeing a man dressed as a clown that tried to scare her. The subject is described as a black male, approximately 5’5″ with an average build. A canvas of the area returned negative results.

ROBBERY, 2016-11080285, 3000 block of N. Highland Street. At approximately 10:10 p.m. on November 8, police responded to the report of a robbery. The male victim was standing next to an alley when three white male subjects approached him. The suspects assaulted the victim, stole his personal belongings and fled the scene on foot. There are no additional details on the suspect’s descriptions.
ATTEMPTED PEEPING TOM, 2016-11070177, 2500 block of 10th Street N. At approximately 3:45 p.m. on November 7, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. The female victim discovered a chair outside her bedroom window which would allow for a view inside the residence. No suspect was witnessed and there is no suspect description.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY(Series), 161106015, 1200 block of S. Scott Street. Between 2:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on November 6, unknown suspect(s) entered 20 vehicles, mostly by breaking the vehicle’s windows, and rummaged through items but nothing appeared to be stolen. There is no suspect(s) description.
ATTEMPTED LARCENY FROM AUTO(Series), 161105045, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. Between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on November 5, an unknown suspect(s) broke windows of two vehicles, rummaged through items but nothing appeared to be stolen. There is no suspect(s) description.
BURGLARY, 161104015, 2300 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 7:36 a.m. on November 4 officers responded to the report of a breaking and entering that occurred overnight. An employee reported to work and discovered the business unlocked and an undisclosed amount of cash missing. There are no suspect(s) descriptions.
BURGLARY, 161104024, 200 block of N. Glebe Road. Between 1:53 a.m. and 4:11 a.m. on November 4, two male suspects entered an apartment laundry room, forced open the coin machine and stole an undisclosed amount of currency. Suspect one is described as a black male, 6’0″ with a thin build. Suspect two is described as a black male, 5’9″ and heavyset. Both were described as wearing light colored hooded sweatshirts, dark colored pants and sneakers.
BREAKING AND ENTERING, 161106040, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on November 6, officers were dispatched to the report of a grand larceny. On this date, the victim discovered pieces of jewelry missing. The grand larceny occurred sometime between 5:00 a.m. on September 28 and 9:00 p.m. on November 5. There are no suspect(s) descriptions.
BURGLARY, 161106001, 5100 block of S. Columbia Pike. Between 6:30 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. on November 5, unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a residence and stole items of value. There are no suspect(s) descriptions.
BURGLARY, 161106054, 5500 block of S. Columbia Pike. Between 9:00 a.m. on November 2 and 4:16 p.m. on November 6, unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a storage unit and stole items of value. There are no suspect(s) descriptions.
