Crime Report: Car Break-Ins in Rosslyn

Police car lightsAt least four cars were broken into and rummaged through in Rosslyn between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Police say “numerous items of value” were stolen from the cars, which were parked on the 1800 block of N. Quinn Street.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (series), 2017-0220059, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. Between 9:00 p.m. on February 19 and 6:45 a.m. on February 20, an unknown subject(s) entered at least four vehicles in a one block radius and stole numerous items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 2017-02160237, 3000 block of N. Monroe Street. Between 4:15 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. on February 16, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence and stole several items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, 2017-02150218, Arlington Boulevard at N. Fillmore Street. At approximately 5:15 p.m. on February 15, an officer on routine patrol was driving south in the 200 block of S. Fillmore Street when a vehicle crossed the double yellow line and allegedly attempted to strike the marked patrol vehicle. The officer was able to avoid the collision and activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle continued on, striking a vehicle traveling northbound. The suspect vehicle continued to drive north on S. Fillmore Street and entered the intersection with Arlington Boulevard against a red light. The suspect vehicle then struck two other vehicles. The officer was then able to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody without further incident. Sulaiman Kanu, 27, of Alexandria Va, was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding of a Law Enforcement Officer and Attempted Malicious Wounding (3 X). He is being held without bond. One victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

BURGLARY, 2017-02140046, 1800 block of Fort Myer Drive. At approximately 6:03 a.m. on February 14, officers responded to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown subject forced entry into a business and stole numerous items of value. The suspect is described as male, approximately 6’0″ -6’03” tall and weighed 150-170 lbs. He was wearing a dark mask/hood, black jacket, white shirt, dark gloves, black pants, and black sneakers.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2017-02140142, 5600 block of Lee Highway. At approximately 1:44 p.m. on February 14, officers responded to the report of a late attempted burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown male subject attempted to gain entry into a business, but was unsuccessful. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9″-5’11” tall and weighed 160-190 lbs. He was wearing dark thick plastic framed glasses, a knit beanie, scarf, gloves, a dark jacket, and khaki pants.
