Crime Report: D.C. Man Charged With Sexual Battery After Grabbing Girl at Mall

A D.C. man has been arrested and charged with sexual battery after an incident at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City mall yesterday.

Just after noon police were called for a report of a man who had grabbed a teenage girl’s buttocks in the mall, according to scanner traffic.

Based on witness statements, police identified a suspect and took him into custody.

SEXUAL BATTERY, 2017-08220140, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 12:18 p.m. on August 22, police were dispatched to the report of a possible assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male suspect  allegedly touched a minor inappropriately while inside a store. During the course of the investigation, officers identified a possible suspect based on the description provided by witnesses. The suspect was located in the area and taken into custody without incident. Rivera Barmett, 26, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with sexual battery. He was held without bond.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-08220056, 3800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 5:53 a.m. on August 22, police were dispatched to the report of a possible breaking and entering. Upon arrival it was determined that a female victim was awoken to an unknown suspect inside her residence. The suspect fled the scene after being confronted by the victim. The victim was not injured and nothing was reported missing. The suspect is described as a black female, approximately 5’9″ – 6′ with an average build and brown curly hair in a pony tail. She was described as wearing a white dress with a flower design at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

WANTED SUBJECT, 2017-08200173, 2100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 3:12 p.m. on August 20, an officer on routine patrol observed a wanted subject in the area of 15th Street S. and N. Courthouse Road. When officers attempted to stop the subject, he fled on foot into the Courthouse Metro Station and boarded a train heading west. A lookout was broadcast and an officer responding to the Clarendon Metro Station observed the subject attempting to exit the station. The subject was then taken into custody without incident. Joshua Brown, 25, of Centreville, VA was served with two outstanding warrants and was charged with possession of controlled paraphernalia.

RECOVERED GRAND LARCENY AUTO, 2017-08190273, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 10:00 p.m. on August 19, an officer on routine patrol observed a traffic infraction. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was reported stolen out of North Carolina. Manuel Martinez, 36, of Annandale, Virginia was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Obstruction of Justice and No Operators License. Gerber Galeas Romero, 51, of Fairfax, VA was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property. Jose Martinez, 41, of Alexandria, VA was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Obstruction of Justice.

ATTEMPTED CARJACKING, 2017-08200083, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. At approximately 5:48 a.m. on August 20, police responded to the report of an attempted carjacking. Upon arrival it was determined that an unknown suspect approached the victim inside his parked vehicle and attempted to open the driver’s door. After failing to gain entry, the suspect struck the vehicle’s windshield with an unknown object and fled the area on foot. The victim was not injured. Responding officers established a perimeter and canvased the area with negative results. The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic male with a large build, shot hair and beard. He was wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2017-08180074, 6000 block of Wilson Boulevard. Between 10:30 p.m. on August 17 and 5:45 a.m. on August 18, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a business and stole and undisclosed amount of cash. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2017-08180202, 2600 block of Lorcom Lane. At approximately 4:56 p.m. on August 18, police were dispatched to the report of a late breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and moved items but nothing of value appeared to be missing. There is no suspect(s) description.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2017-08180307, 1900 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 11:15 p.m. on August 18, police were dispatched to the report of an indecent exposure. Upon arrival it was determined that a male suspect on foot approached a female victim inside a vehicle and exposed himself. The suspect is described as a black male in his thirties, wearing a dark shirt and dark pants. The investigation is ongoing.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2017-08180311, 1500 block of N. Rhodes Street. At approximately 11:40 p.m. on August 18, police were dispatched to the report of an indecent exposure. Upon arrival it was determined that a female victim was walking into a residence when a male suspect approached her from behind and exposed himself. The suspect is described as a black male with an athletic build. He was wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and had a scarf covering part of his face. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2017-08170291, 600 block of S. Ivy Street. Between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on August 17, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and stole various personal belongings of the resident. There is no suspect(s) descriptions.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2017-08150274, 1500 block of 16th Road N. At approximately 8:41 p.m. on August 15, police were dispatched to the report of an attempted robbery. The investigation determined that the female victim was walking in the area when she was passed by four males traveling on foot. As they passed one another, one of the males attempted to steal the victim’s cell phone. The victim was able to break free and contact police. The victim was not injured. Responding officers canvassed the area and located four subjects matching the victim’s description. Antwon Jackson, 18, of Suitland, MD was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery. Petitions were sought for two juvenile suspects.
