Crime Report: Convenience Store Robbed Near Rosslyn

A convenience store was robbed in broad daylight Monday afternoon, and the suspects were able to flee the scene with cash.

The robbery happened on the 1200 block of Fort Myer Drive, near Rosslyn, around 2 p.m. That block is home to the popular Quarterdeck restaurant and the Fort Myer Market, a convenience store.

Police say two men hopped the counter and struggled with one of the people inside the store, before grabbing cash from the register and running off.

ROBBERY, 2019-04010150, 1200 block of Fort Myer Drive. At approximately 1:56 p.m. on April 1, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined that the two suspects entered a convenience store, jumped the counter and stole money from the cash register. Following a brief struggle with the victim, the suspects fled the scene. Suspect One is described as a black male with short brown hair, 25 years old, 6’0 tall, 190 lbs. He was wearing black jeans, a black shirt and black jacket at the time of the incident. Suspect Two is described as a black male with short brown hair, 20 years old, 5’5 tall, 175 lbs. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and gray shorts at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2019-04010024, 3700 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:29 a.m. on April 1, police were dispatched to the report of an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect struck the female victim in the head, causing a laceration. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital. Stefany Miranda Guzman, 21, of Alexandria, VA, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT/TAMPERING WITH AUTO, 2019-03300280, 2019-03300275, 2019-03310014, 4800 block of 28th Street S. At approximately 11:34 p.m. on March 30, police were dispatched to the report of suspects tampering with vehicles. Upon investigation, it was determined the suspects were operating a vehicle previously reported stolen out of Washington D.C. when they struck a parked vehicle, causing theirs to overturn. The suspects then exited the vehicle, tampered with approximately four vehicles, before stealing a vehicle with the keys left inside and fleeing the scene. The occupants of the crashed vehicle are described as two black males and two black females. The investigation is ongoing.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2019-04010013, 900 block of N. Garfield Street. At approximately 12:44 a.m. on April 1, police were dispatched to the report of a possible trespasser inside a vacant apartment. Upon arrival, officers located a suspect inside the residence who allegedly entered through an unsecured door. Michael Bowles, 59, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY, 2019-03300220, 800 block of Army Navy Drive. At approximately 7:10 p.m. on March 30, police received a License Plate Reader hit on a reported stolen vehicle entering a parking garage. Upon arrival, officers located the parked vehicle with a female occupant in the passenger seat. The passenger exited the vehicle, disregarded all lawful commands by officers and attempted to flee the scene on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, the passenger was taken into police custody. The driver was taken into custody when he returned to the vehicle and a controlled substance was allegedly located on his person. Miranda Costello, 19 of Gaithersburg, MD, was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Stolen Property. Patrick Chambers, 24, of District Heights, MD, was arrested and charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

BURGLARY, 2019-03300027, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 30, police were dispatched to the report of a possible burglary in progress. The victim reported that he heard the door of his residence opening, prompting his dog to bark. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2019-03300134, 2000 block of N. Powhatan Street. At approximately 2:41 p.m. on March 30, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim entered his garage and discovered a specialized bicycle missing. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2019-03310101, 1500 block of 22nd Street N. At approximately 10:42 a.m. on March 31, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that the garage door to a residence has been left open and an unknown suspect(s) stole sports equipment. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2019-03280004, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 12:06 a.m. on March 28, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was awoken to the sound of someone tampering with the handle to her front door. The victim conversed with the suspect through the front door, telling him to leave. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a black male with a black beanie, grey or olive jacket and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

PEEPING, 2019-03270148, 4500 block of Arlington Boulevard. At approximately 2:19 p.m. on March 27, police were dispatched to the report of a peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined that female victim was inside her residence when she observed an unknown male suspect looking into her bedroom window. The suspect then walked to a patio door where he was confronted by the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with cropped black hair, approximately 18-20 years old and slightly overweight. He was wearing black headphones, a grey hoodie and grey sweatpants. The investigation is ongoing.
