The number of new coronavirus cases reported overnight in Arlington was in the single digits for the third time in the past four days.
There are now 2,142 known COVID-19 cases in Arlington, according to Virginia Dept. of Health data, an increase of nine cases since Tuesday. Two additional hospitalizations were reported overnight, bringing the rolling seven-day total down to eight.
Three COVID-related deaths were reported, however, a reminder of the toll the virus takes, often delayed by weeks after initial symptom onset. There have been 120 deaths and a cumulative total of 379 hospitalizations in Arlington, according VDH.
Arlington’s seven-day average test positivity rate held steady from the day prior, at 9.6%. A total of 10,810 PCR-based coronavirus tests have been administered to county residents since the start of the local outbreak in March.
Much of Virginia is set to enter Phase 2 of the Commonwealth’s reopening on Friday, Gov. Ralph Northam announced Tuesday afternoon, though Northern Virginia will remain on Phase 1.
