ACPD: Dispute leads to stabbing in Buckingham neighborhood

An Arlington man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stabbing a man during a dispute.

The incident happened around 11:20 p.m. Friday outside of a residential building in the 4300 block of 4th Street N. in Buckingham.

The two men were engaged in a verbal dispute that became physical, leading one man to produce a knife and stab the other, Arlington County police said.

The 42-year-old suspect — who knew the victim — was arrested on Saturday. He was arraigned Monday, according to court records, and faces a charge of aggravated malicious wounding.

AGGRAVATED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2024-06140246, 4300 block of 4th Street N. At approximately 11:22 p.m. on June 14, police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and male suspect, who are known to each other, were outside a residential building when they became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a knife before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified and a warrant for his arrest was obtained. The following day, officers located the suspect inside a residence in the 800 block of S. Oakland Street and took him into custody. A knife was recovered from the scene. [The suspect], 42, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding. He was held without bond.
