Ireland’s Four Courts celebrates one-year anniversary of reopening after fiery crash

Ireland’s Four Courts is celebrating its one-year anniversary of reopening after withstanding a fiery car crash in 2022.

The popular Courthouse pub at 2051 Wilson Blvd will host live music by D.C. area band Chasing Autumn, a raffle and karaoke from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) to celebrate one year back in business. This is in addition to a $6 deal on draft beers and appetizers.

Raffle prizes include free T-shirts and tickets to see D.C. United, the Washington Capitals and the Washington Nationals, as well as the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, managing partner Dave Cahill told ARLnow.

“We’re just grateful to be back in business for a year. The year went so quick for us,” Cahill said. “We’re happy that the people who were injured in the accident recovered… and we’re happy to put everything behind us.”

A car careened into the pub and burst into flames around dinnertime on Aug. 12, 2022 after a rideshare driver suffered an apparent medical emergency while driving down N. Courthouse Road. A total of 15 people were injured and nine were hospitalized, several with critical injuries.

The pub, meanwhile, endured extensive damages and took more than a year to reopen on Sept. 7, 2023.

Without first responders, Cahill said, Four Courts wouldn’t be around today. The pub will host a private lunch event today to honor emergency personnel who responded to the crash and fire
