A middle school student is facing charges after police say he threatened another student with a knife.
Police were dispatched to Swanson Middle School in the Westover area around lunchtime Tuesday for a report of a 14-year-old student making threats. They subsequently seized two knives that had been brought into the school.
“Three juvenile males became involved in a dispute at school during which the suspect allegedly made threatening statements to harm the victim with a knife,” Arlington County police said in a crime report today. “No injuries were reported. School administration subsequently searched the suspect’s belongings and recovered two knives.”
“Responding officers took possession of the knives and the juvenile male suspect, who is in his teens, was taken into custody,” the crime report continues. “A petition for the juvenile suspect was obtained for Possession of a Weapon on School Property.”
Separately, about an hour after the Swanson incident, police rushed to Drew Elementary School in Green Valley for a lockdown alert. It turned out to be a false alarm, according to scanner traffic.
