A reported single-vehicle crash took out a pole and a sidewalk bench in Clarendon this afternoon.
Police responded to the intersection of N. Highland Street and Clarendon Blvd around 3:10 p.m. after the driver of a blue Toyota sedan struck the light pole just outside of Four Sisters Grill.
A photo shared with ARLnow shows the vehicle, a four-door sedan, on the sidewalk with the light pole resting atop its roof and the bench crumpled by its front bumper.
The circumstances that led to the crash are not currently known. No serious injuries were reported, but the fire department responded to the scene to help with the cleanup.
One lane of Clarendon Blvd was blocked by the emergency activity, as seen (below) in a photo posted on social media by local public safety watcher Dave Statter.
A police spokeswoman tells ARLnow that the driver was cited for the crash.
