Break-in reported at Bill’s Ace Hardware for second time in two weeks

A hardware store off of Langston Blvd has been burglarized for the second time in the space of two weeks.

Police officers were dispatched to Bill’s Ace Hardware (2213 N. Buchanan Street) just after 7 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) after an employee found that the glass on the front door was broken, according to scanner traffic.

Investigators determined that a male suspect shattered the door around 1:22 a.m. that morning, the Arlington County Police Department said in today’s crime report. The suspect then “rummaged through the interior, stole merchandise and subsequently fled the scene in a vehicle,” police said.

The Old Dominion hardware store also had a break-in early in the morning on Jan. 23. A neighboring service center, National Tire & Battery, was also targeted, though nothing was reported stolen in that incident.

In both burglaries, the suspect is identified as an “unknown race male” who wore dark-colored clothing and a face covering. The investigations remain ongoing.

A preliminary incident report for Wednesday’s break-in is below.
