Arlington’s 22205 Among ‘Hottest’ — “Anyone who’s thought about buying or selling a house in Northern Virginia knows the real estate market in our region is strong. But which areas are the most in demand? Check out our ranking of the Top 20 Hottest Zip Codes in Northern Virginia.” [N. Va. Magazine]

No Impact on Streams, So Far — “While the sewage discharge is not expected to impact Arlington’s stream water quality, the County’s bacteria monitoring program is collecting additional samples on Four Mile Run to supplement understanding of any impacts in the area. To date, this sampling has not shown an impact on Arlington streams, with low levels of E. coli bacteria.” [Arlington County]

Final Report on Crash Near DCA — “Ghe NTSB found that the crash was caused by the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) placement of a helicopter route so close to the runway approach at DCA, combined with heavy airport traffic and inadequate safety systems and training.” [Fox 5, Axios]

Bridge Repairs in EFC — “The EB Washington Blvd left lane along the bridge over I-66 by the East Falls Church Metro station will be closed from 9:30 am Wed 2/18 until 11:59 pm Sat 2/21 for bridge repair work.” [VDOT/X]

Library Back Open After Water Leak — “Courthouse Library will reopen with its standard hours beginning Wednesday, February 18. We thank you for your patience as we worked to reopen this location.” [APL/X]

County Conducting Survey — “Arlington County is conducting its seventh Countywide, statistically valid community survey to understand the community’s satisfaction with County services and programs, as well as overall perceptions of the local government.” [Arlington County]

Va. Redistricting Vote Coming Soon — “In just three weeks, Virginia voters will have the chance to start casting ballots in a special election on a constitutional amendment to redraw the commonwealth’s congressional districts. Two groups have already formed: Virginians for Fair Elections, which is trying to win approval for the amendment, and Virginians for Fair Maps, which is pushing a no vote.” [NBC 4]

Region in Severe Drought — “How are we in a severe drought after all of the snow and ice? The 6–9 inches that fell Jan. 25 equaled only about 2 inches of rain. And because it has melted slowly, that moisture has trickled into the ground over weeks. Even with that storm, we entered January nearly 10 inches (of rain) below normal after six straight dry months.” [CWG/X]

Snow Storm Chance — “Multiple models are signaling the potential for significant snow in the northern Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Sunday, including the D.C. area, while some models show just lighter snow or rain. As of today (Tuesday), confidence in accumulating snow for our region on Sunday is too low to change any plans.” [CWG/X]

It’s Wednesday — Fog expected is before 9am, followed by mostly cloudy condition and a high temperature near 58°F. There is a slight chance of rain after 2pm. Southwest winds will be 5 to 10 mph, with gusts of up to 20 mph, and a 20% chance of precipitation. For Wednesday night, the clouds will gradually clear, leading to a low temperature around 43°F.
