Burglary call and foot pursuit leads to drug arrest near Drew Elementary

A teen is facing a number of charges after police say a burglary call led to a foot pursuit and the discovery of “distribution amounts” of drugs.

The incident happened Monday morning in the Green Valley neighborhood. Police say the suspect was detained near Drew Elementary School.

More, below, from an Arlington County Police Department crime report.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2026-03020069, 3200 block of 24th Street S. At approximately 10:45 a.m. on March 2, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim returned to his residence and observed damage to the door consistent with forced entry and called police. Responding officers observed several subjects exit the apartment and subsequently run from the scene. Following a foot pursuit, officers detained one juvenile male suspect who was wearing a face mask in the area of Drew Elementary School. During the course of the investigation, distribution amounts of suspected narcotics and evidence of the sale of narcotics were recovered. The suspect also provided officers with false personal identification information while in custody. Petitions for the juvenile suspect were obtained for Unlawful Entry, Obstruction of Justice, Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance, Selling Drugs On/Near School Property, Giving False Identity to Law Enforcement and Wearing a Mask in a Public Place.

Also in the crime report, a man with more than a dozen past charges in Arlington, including sexual battery, was arrested and charged with assaulting police.

Police were initially called to a building in the Columbia Forest neighborhood, near Columbia Pike, around 5 p.m. Monday for a report of a man breaking windows. Responding officers took into custody a 29-year-old Arlington resident, who then “became irate and kicked an officer several times.”
