The Village at Shirlington is planning to host another yacht-themed party this June to kick off the summer season.
The neighborhood is bringing back last year’s nautical bash “by popular demand.” Guests are invited to dress up and partake in the neighborhood shopping center’s sip and stroll policy, while enjoying live yacht rock and dining specials around 2700 S. Quincy Street.
The party will take place on Juneteenth weekend: Saturday, June 20 from 4-7 p.m., organizers announced this week. They say it’s a boatload of fun.
“Wear your best linens, florals, and boat shoes, and join us for a fun evening featuring live music, exclusive specials from our restaurants and retailers,” a spokesperson wrote.
The yacht rock band Got Yacht? will perform this year’s summery setlist of ’70s and ’80s hits. The cover band has more than 200 songs in its repertoire across artists like Steely Dan, Jimmy Buffet and Hall & Oates.
Several Shirlington restaurants are expected to offer specials on dining and drinks. Last year, businesses including Copperwood Tavern, Guapo’s, Astro Beer Hall, Corso Italian and Taco Bamba offered deals.
Attendance is free and reservations can be made on Eventbrite.
