Power washing reportedly leads to electrical fire in Waverly Hills

A small house fire broke out in the Waverly Hills neighborhood this afternoon, under somewhat unusual circumstances.

The fire was reported around 1 p.m. on 16th Street N. between N. Wakefield Street and N. Utah Street, just a few blocks north of Ballston.

A work crew on site reportedly called 911 after seeing smoke coming from a wall. Initial reports suggest the fire broke out in electrical wiring or equipment behind a wall that workers were pressure washing.

There were no injuries and the fire was contained to the home’s first floor, an ACFD spokesman told ARLnow. No fire damage could be seen from the outside of the house.
