Armed Forces Cycling Classic is back this weekend, bringing road closures

Cycling pros and enthusiasts will be hitting the streets of Arlington this weekend for the return of the Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic.

The event, now in its 28th year, will include two days of races on Saturday and Sunday, benefiting the nonprofit Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) — and bringing some road closures.

“From fast-paced racing like the iconic Clarendon Cup to family-friendly activities including kids’ races, the event offers something for everyone — whether you’re riding, cheering, or simply soaking in the energy of one of the area’s most anticipated spring traditions,” a spokesperson said.

The Cycling Classic kicks off on Saturday morning with the Challenge Ride. This race, which welcomes cyclists of all skill levels, begins and ends in D.C., but crosses the Potomac into National Landing and heads north along Richmond Highway up to Rosslyn.

Proceeds from one category in the Challenge Ride, the Pride Ride, benefit the Capital Pride Alliance. The following road closures are scheduled on Saturday.
