ACPD: Shots fired after dispute at basketball game

Gunshots were fired over the weekend following a dispute at a basketball court in Long Branch Creek, police say.

The Arlington County Police Department responded to a report of gunshots shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to a preliminary incident report.

“The preliminary investigation indicates a dispute between a group playing basketball preceded the shooting,” the incident report says. “The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.”

No injuries were reported, but police “recovered evidence confirming shots had been fired” on the 1400 block of 28th Street S., near Gunston Park.

Officers did not locate a suspect.
