A panel, booth and fair focused on best practices for raising kids around technology are taking place in Arlington this week.
All three events are organized by the local chapter of The Balance Project, “which equips and mobilizes families, schools and communities to shift cultural norms around technology and bring modern childhood into balance,” according to a press release.
A panel discussion titled “Raising Kids in a World of Screens” will take place on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Washington Golf and Country Club (3017 N. Glebe Road). Moderated by CNN Chief Domestic Correspondent Phil Mattingly, the talk will feature a former internet-crimes prosecutor, a mental health therapist and educator, a digital-parenting expert and a senior from McLean High School.
Registration is encouraged and business attire is preferred.
In a similar vein, a booth at the Clarendon Day festival on Saturday will connect families with resources on improving technology habits.
Finally, a device fair with “kid-safe phones, watches, music players, cameras and other digital wellness tools” will take place at Nighthawk Brewery & Pizza (1201 S. Joyce Street) from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday.
“Their focus is on giving kids more freedom to be kids, tweens to be tweens and teens to be teens, while helping families incorporate technology intentionally at every age and stage,” the press release says.
