Glass bottles thrown from a balcony in the Clarendon area shattered the rear windshield of a parked car with someone inside Saturday night.
Arlington County police were called to the 3100 block of 10th Street N. around 10:30 p.m. After arriving on scene, officers determined a man had thrown the bottles from high up on a residential balcony, but no one was hurt.
Officers identified a suspect and arrested him on scene. The 24-year-old Bethesda man faces five charges, including throwing an object into an occupied vehicle and two counts of reckless endangerment by throwing objects from a high place, according to police.

MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED VEHICLE, 2026-09260197, 3100 block of 10th Street N. At approximately 10:26 p.m. on September 26, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly threw glass bottles from a residential balcony, striking an occupied parked vehicle and causing the rear windshield to shatter. No injuries were reported. Responding officers identified the suspect and took him into custody on scene. [The suspect], 24, of Bethesda, MD, was arrested and charged with Missile Into Occupied Vehicle, Destruction of Property (Misdemeanor), Destruction of Property (Felony) and Reckless Endangerment by Throwing Objects from High Place (x2).
Separately, early Monday morning, someone smashed the rear passenger windows of two parked Hyundais on the 5500 block of Columbia Pike in Columbia Forest, went through both cars and then drove off in a third, a white 2011 Hyundai Elantra, police said.
The break-ins happened sometime between 1 and 7 a.m. and weren’t reported until later that morning. Police have no description of a suspect.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (Series) (Late), 2026-09280052, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 8:47 a.m. on September 28, police were dispatched to the late report of destruction of property. It was determined between approximately 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., the suspect(s) smashed the rear passenger windows of two parked, unoccupied vehicles in the area, rummaged through the interiors and stole a third vehicle before fleeing the scene. The stolen vehicle is described as a white 2011 Hyundai Elantra with Virginia license plate SUW2527. The damaged vehicles are also described as Hyundai models. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
