Repeat offender gets 12-month sentence for attacking woman at Pentagon City bathroom

A man has been found guilty of attacking a woman at a restroom in Pentagon City following a series of assaults in Reston last year.

Koby Berry, 28, was found guilty of assault and battery following a trial on Oct. 26 in Arlington County General District Court.

Berry was sentenced to 12 months for the incident, in which he was accused of placing his hand over the mouth of a woman at a Pentagon City shopping center and attempting to push her into a bathroom the evening of May 6.

The woman was able to escape and yell for assistance. Police said Berry fled the scene on foot and, after an employee provided a description, he was arrested at Virginia Highlands Park.

Prosecutors did not move forward with another charge of attempted abduction with intent to defile, a felony, after the victim said she didn’t want to go through the repeated court appearances.

Berry was also found not guilty in a separate assault and battery case following a bench trial on Oct. 26.

The month before the Pentagon City assault, Berry had pleaded guilty and no contest in connection to a series of November 2025 assaults and indecent exposure in Reston.

He had faced several charges for allegedly touching a woman at a store, stealing a woman’s phone, striking a man walking on the W&OD Trail, tackling a woman bicycling on the W&OD Trail and exposing himself to women in a hotel room. The charges were cut down to two counts of assault and battery as part of a plea deal that gave him a 120-day suspended sentence with 12 months of probation and a 180-day suspended sentence on those charges.

Following his arrest for the Arlington County assault this year, Berry was charged in Fairfax County with two counts of violating his probation on the Reston incidents. He is scheduled for a hearing on Jan. 14.

He also was found guilty in July of another 2025 assault in Fairfax County General District Court and sentenced to 90 days of incarceration.
