The fall session brings a number of exciting workshops to Art House 7. Master artist Teresa Oaxaca returns for her popular 2-day Painting the Portrait in Oils, Nov. 1-2. Teresa’s students are consistently delighted to see what they create with Teresa’s inspiring guidance. Our very talented Judie Gray is teaching watercolor workshops. Looking for something shorter? Take your volunteering to the next level this fall! Become an EcoAmbassador! EcoAmbassadors is a new climate- and energy-centered volunteer training and community engagement program starting in October 2025. The EcoAmbassador program will bring together volunteers who are passionate about helping neighbors commit to personal activities that will make our neighborhoods and homes healthier and more livable. Training is centered on the City of Alexandria Energy and Climate Change Action Plan and Arlington’s Community Energy Plan and related climate strategies. Specific focus areas include: reducing energy use and electrifying the home, shifting to eco-friendly transportation choices, and minimizing waste.

Volunteers ages 16 and up are encouraged to apply. The fee for the program is $110 (free for students), deadline for applications is September 24. An early bird discount is available for applications submitted by September 13. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in this program, needs-based waivers are available upon request. Arlington Travel Basketball: Coaching Opportunities & Tryouts for 2025-26 Season

Arlington Travel Basketball (ATB) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization offering competitive basketball for boys and girls in grades 5–8. Our mission is to develop superior basketball skills while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and character.


September 8th through September 13th, EvolveAll Martial Arts and Training Studio will offer free intro programs in all its classes—from Pilates and Yoga to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Youth Martial Arts.

For more the 15 years, EvolveAll has established itself as a space where people can develop their skills and challenge their limits. EvolveAll’s programming offers something for everyone with more martial arts disciplines than any other studio in Virginia. Programs include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Striking, Boxing, Tai Chi Chuan, Capoeira, Pilates, Self-Defense, Women’s Only Jiu Jitsu, Women’s Kickboxing, Fitness Bootcamp, Yoga, and Youth Martial Arts (ages 5-15).


Wakefield High School Marching Band Hosts Annual Tag Day Fundraiser – Saturday, September 13, 2025

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Wakefield High School’s music students will be out in Arlington neighborhoods for the school’s annual Tag Day fundraiser. Tag Day is the biggest fundraising effort of the year for the school’s award-winning music program, which includes marching band, orchestra, chorus, and guitar ensembles.


Washington, D.C. – After the summer break, it is time to reconnect. The French-American Chamber of Commerce opens the doors of the Embassy of France for the Garden Party de la Rentrée, an event that brings French art de vivre to the heart of the U.S. capital.

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Embassy gardens will host an evening of gastronomy, culture, and elegance. This annual celebration also marks a moment of welcome for the new diplomats arriving at the French Embassy, making the event both festive and meaningful for the transatlantic community.
