Corso Italian closes indefinitely after flooding in Shirlington

A Shirlington Italian restaurant is shutting its doors for repairs after flooding earlier this month.

Corso Italian will be closed at 4024 Campbell Avenue for an uncertain period of time after flooding on Aug. 2 caused “significant damage” to a dining room and the basement, owner Jill Erber wrote in a letter to customers yesterday (Wednesday).

Man retrieves goats from animal control, finishes journey to D.C. and hits the road

After a cross-country journey and a recent brush with animal control, a man who arrived in Arlington with three goats finally made it to D.C.

However, he didn’t stay for long and he only has two goats with him now.

‘Little City Sips’ returns to Falls Church this weekend, building on past success

Falls Church will be hosting another sip-and-stroll program this weekend, looking to build on the success of a concept that debuted in June.

The city’s second Little City Sips event will take place on Saturday from 5-10 p.m. in an area bounded by W. Broad Street, Park Avenue, Little Falls Street and N. Washington Street.

All-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in Clarendon appears to have closed

While one all-you-can-eat sushi spot just opened on Columbia Pike, a similar restaurant further north in Arlington appears to have closed.

Sakaki Izakaya, a Clarendon restaurant selling Japanese street food, rice and noodles and desserts in addition to sushi, is listed as “permanently closed” on Google. No official announcements appear to be posted online, but the restaurant at 3227 Washington Blvd was not open during its listed hours yesterday (Wednesday) and it is no longer accepting online orders.

Bike shop plans 56-mile ride of every Falls Church street this weekend

Falls Church covers just 2.1 square miles, but some local cyclists are about to ride 56 miles without leaving the city limits.

Bikenetic Full Service Bike Shop is hosting an event this Saturday that invites bicyclists to navigate a course that goes down every street in the Little City.

There’s a 60% chance of rain, with potential rainfall between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, higher in storms. Thursday night will also see likely showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a chance of showers until 1am, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 69°F. New indoor golf training center enjoying success after opening near Ballston

A membership-only, indoor golfing facility meant for avid golfers looking to improve is now open in a high-rise near Ballston.

The Golf Yards opened earlier this month in Three Ballston Plaza at 1100 N. Glebe Road, offering members 24/7 access to eight golf simulators, putting/short game areas and a high-performance gym. The seventh-floor space is already nearing its membership cap, co-founder David Stillman told ARLnow.

New all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant opens in Penrose Square

A new all-you-can-eat spot for sushi, sashimi and nigiri is open in Penrose Square.

MoMoGoGo opened its doors at 2501 9th Road S. this past weekend, serving rolls in an atmosphere heavily inspired by Japan — with booths designed after Japanese gazebos, faux maple leaves and screens displaying scenes from the land of the rising sun.

National Dog Day brings pet-friendly merch to Rosslyn next week

A pop-up book sale, live music and an event honoring furry friends are all coming to the Rosslyn Farmers Market over the next week.

A book sale by Turning the Page — a nonprofit that hosted another event in Crystal City last month — will take place today (Wednesday) from noon to 6 p.m. at 1800 N. Lynn Street. The event promises over 3,000 gently used books, plus CDs, DVDs and vinyl records.

Free ice cream coming to Ballston tomorrow in new ‘pop-up park’ series

A new series of outdoor events in Ballston is offering free scoops of Van Leeuwen ice cream tomorrow (Wednesday).

“Honeycomb” ice cream made with caramel candy will be available in a courtyard at 4075 Wilson Blvd, which organizers are calling “The Commons Pop-Up Park,” starting at 11:30 a.m. and continuing while supplies last.
